Mondo Grow Kit: Additional tips for better growing shrooms

With our Magic Mushroom Grow Kits, you can easily grow magic mushrooms in the comfort of your home. Our quality growing kits are inoculated with cubensis spores and the mycelium is fully developed to provide you with the most effortless growing experience possible.

Do you want to get the most out of your grow kit? Follow these tips to make sure that the growing conditions of your Mondo Grow Kit are optimal.

Read the grow kit  instructions first!

This article will provide you with additional tips for optimizing the growing progress of your mushrooms. Before we get into the additional tips, please make sure you read the official Mondo Grow Kit Instructions.

Don't forget: always work with a sterile technique! Make sure your hands and arms are disinfected while handling the grow kits. The more hygienically you work, the less chance you will have of contamination

How to set up your Mondo grow kit

Placement:

The best place for your grow kit to stay is high up and out of the way, like on top of your wardrobe, on a high shelf, or on top of a cupboard. Just make sure that you never put your grow kit on the ground. Why? At a higher elevation, the temperature will be a bit warmer, and the kit will be kept away from people and air movements. Overall it is also cleaner and less prone to contaminants up here.

Also, make sure to never place the grow kit too close to a radiator because this will expose it to too much heat.

Clean workplace:

Always make sure that the area around the grow kit is clean and disinfected. Make sure that the kit is not placed in the bathroom because there are a lot of contaminating agents and other molds flying around in there; the same counts for the kitchen. The best place would be in the living room or in the bedroom.

Lighting:

Place the kit somewhere where it can receive a normal amount of daylight. It should have a regular day and night rhythm ─ but make sure your grow kit is never standing in direct sunlight! Direct sunlight will expose the grow kit to too much heat.

What to do with the carton box:

After removing the grow kit from the fridge in the grow bag, put this whole package inside the cardboard box it came in. This way the sides of the mycelium cake are protected from the light, which will increase the chances of your mushrooms growing on top of the substrate and not on the side.

Optimal temperature for growing with the Mondo mushroom kit

  • The grow kit should always be kept within the range of 18-28 degrees Celcius.
  • If the temperature is too low? The kit will enter hibernation mode and go to sleep.
  • If the temperature is too high? The kit will be overheated and either not grow at all, or not grow the right way.

The ideal temperature range for your kit is between 21-24 degrees. If you can manage to arrange a constant room temperature, your mushrooms would really appreciate it!

Another way to achieve the right temperature is using our thermo heating mats. Make sure you follow the right instructions so you have the ideal temperature and can maximize your yield.

Humidity and venting (only for Mondo Grow Kit)

How often should you spray the Mondo mushroom kit?

Mushrooms appreciate a humid environment, so you can water your kit every other day. When you see a lot of water droplets in the bag it means that there is enough humidity and also that the temperature is good.

How to spray?

Spray on the sides of the bag to keep the growing conditions humid. Avoid spraying on the air filters and substrate.

Extra tip for XL Mondo grow kits:

You can put a bit of water (100ml) on the bottom of the grow bag (not in the plastic box with the cake). This will ensure that the kit will remain humid constantly.

How often should you vent the grow kit?

Venting should happen daily for about 2 minutes at a time. Make sure that all of the windows are closed before you open the bag.

How to vent?

Open the bag and push the sides together, to push the old air out. Now pull the sides of the bag away from each other again so fresh air is sucked inside. Repeat this a couple of times.

Beware!

Do not breathe directly into the bag, to prevent contamination.
